Bara Sushi

It's been quite a while since we've done a restaurant review on here, but we went out for sushi the other night, and it was so good I couldn't resist.

We've been to Bara a number of times before, and every time we've been impressed by the quality and freshness of their fish - it's the best we've had in Portland. The dishes are beautifully prepared, and equally as tasty. Service has always been friendly and prompt, and it's always felt comfortable taking our time there, it's a place you don't mind staying a while.

We were remarking that sushi is a bit more of an aesthetic experience than say Indian or Thai food - and as such, it carries a bit higher price tag, but man is it worth it from time to time. One of my favorite things about it, is you can eat your fill and you never feel like you've just eaten a brick, as you might with an intense curry dish or the standard American meat and potatoes meal.

If you go, I highly recommend trying the Caterpillar roll, and we had one this time with mandarin orange slices and Thai chiles that was very tasty - not very Japanese, but very tasty :)

With that, here are some pictures. Enjoy!
